The Story of "White Christmas"The music and lyrics for White Christmas were written by Irving Berlin in 1942 and were first featured in Holiday Inn, a film starring Bing Crosby. The soldiers fighting in the World War II and their families waiting back home were struck by White Christmas's lyrics. The song and recording of White Christmas by Bing Crosby with John Scott Trotter's orchestra and the Ken Darby Singers became so popular that it was later reprised in a movie by the same name- White Christmas. The film once again starred Bing Crosby this time teamed up with Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen. The costumes of red velvet and white fur worn in the film charmed citizens everywhere and together with the lyrics the song has stayed extremely popular to this day.
